This is an area that I've unfortunately sunk endless amounts of hours thinking about over the past year and with the new Transport Canada regulations as of June 1, 2019, it has got me re-visiting this idea all over again.
Do I go out and buy a drone for myself, invest my time to get better at flying one (haven't flown one in two years with under 10 hours fly time) and go through the process of getting certified as a UAV pilot? Or do I partner up with an already certified, insured and experienced UAV pilot who has been doing this for years?
Very tough call. Even though I am confident with time and practice that I could get quite good doing aerial work and a drone is still on my bucket list but it's not near the top as I have other priorities to invest into. And of course the biggest barrier is time, when you only have so much, you have to sink your time into what are the best ROI's. But who knows, maybe I eventually do decide to just do it all myself as there are pros and cons to each situation.
So right now I am looking for an on-going certified and talented UAV pilot who would be interested in partnering up and working with me on future projects. If you happen to know anyone, send me an email displaying your current aerial work and skill set at hello@stevenquon.com
Thanks. :)
