Setting up for a video shoot

With the winter weather, video guys sick and the pandemic, it's been tough to get stuff done. Not fun shooting video in -20C weather but it's something that I tolerate, so that I'm not sitting on things that need to be done.
Glad to finally see the warm weather here for 2020, it always makes your work that much easier.
It was as close as it could get but I just about got the groom into the Hall of Fame as well.
I never would have guessed that the very first time that I photograph a farrier, one of the half dozen pictures that I took is going into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, NY. This was a completely new and unfamiliar experience to me but what a learning experience it was.
You may have heard me say before that a big part of photography is being in the right place at the right time but there is more to it than just that. Well this couldn't have been a better example.
I was cutting through the back barns at Breeders' Cup, walking back to the car to get something and if it wasn't for me taking a slight detour because I was alert and saw this farrier from a distance, I never would have gotten this picture and obviously I would not be having my name in the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame from this specific subject. What an incredible honor this is and a defining moment in my career.
To add to that (I've had some people ask), no this is not the same career defining moment that I briefly mentioned a few weeks ago, there is another one! But it's way too early to share that one right now.
This piece of framed work will be going into the museum later this year and I will do another reveal when it's in there. Can't wait!
Here's another big announcement that I was hoping to make. 5 weeks ago I 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲, 𝗖𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗼 𝗘𝗴𝘆𝗽𝘁.
If it still happens, it looks like it will have to be pushed to next year because of the CV and me still not being healed from my Dubai trip exactly a year ago from today. So even though my doctors (who I have been seeing) have recently given me clearance to travel again, I am more at risk especially in a dessert setting that is practically the same as Dubai. Even next year will be determined by my health and of course the current world situation on this virus.
I've always said that I'm such a firm believer that with hard work comes rewards and that hard work beats talent every single time. It just takes time to get there but when you just keep at it, day in and day out and keep putting in the hours, those big moments will come, because I do believe that things happen in life for a reason and certain people cross paths in life for a reason. I'm always grateful for everything that does happen.
𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸, 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿. It was a career defining moment and essentially why I invest so much time into what I do and it's moments like these that I always strive for.
This will take the stage for me to do my thing to the next level. I knew that moments like this don't come very often in life (and perhaps never) and I'm so honored to be the chosen one. It made me take a few minutes to realize that it's the past 28 months of my life is whats earned me this pinnacle achievement.
That's all I can share for now but there is something huge and truly magical in the works.
Meet Nick, one of my students that I've been mentoring over the past six months. Nick has a passion for filmmaking and he's been one of my two guys shooting me on camera.
I decided to put him on camera for the very first time in his life and give him two minutes to share his thoughts on what his journey has been like working with me.
It just so happens that him and his wife love horses and since arriving in Canada from the Ukraine, they haven't been around horses very much. They would like to get in on riding lessons and trail rides come Spring and Summer. I told Nick and his wife that I would get them connected.
𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 and provide lessons to, I present to you this wonderful couple. Shoot me a message and we will set something up for this Spring and Summer.

I rarely go to Edmonton but over the years I have received quite a few inquiries from fellow Equestrians further north of Alberta but the additional mileage can be an pain point as it can quickly add up.
